Abstract: With the development of the national economy and the advancement of science and technology, people's demands for physical health are also increasing. As an important component in ensuring human health, drugs have new requirements for stability and activity after production and processing with the development of social production technology. Freeze drying technology, as the main technique for controlling stability after drug processing and production, has received high attention and widespread use in the current pharmaceutical industry. However, due to its involvement in multiple categories and fields such as refrigeration and vacuum technology in its application, further optimization and improvement are needed in its work.
Freeze drying technology, abbreviated as freeze-drying technology, is a drying method for drugs that involves freezing a drug solution containing water below freezing point, converting water into ice, and then converting ice into steam under high vacuum conditions to remove bound water. Freeze drying at low temperatures can prevent the dried drugs from easily deteriorating due to exposure to oxygen, and can achieve sterilization and inhibit bacterial growth due to hypoxia. Dried drugs during freezing can maintain their original state and color after drying, while dehydrated freeze-dried drugs are suitable for long-distance transportation and long-term storage. So the technology of freeze-drying and dehydrating drugs under vacuum and low temperature is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry. Below is a brief analysis of the application of refrigeration technology in pharmaceutical processes from four aspects: the development history, characteristics, principles and processes, and an introduction to equipment.
